THE HOST

‘The Host’ was a gigantic mutant fish monster that goes on the rampage through Seoul, South Korea before meeting his end in a fiery shootout on the banks of the Han River. During it’s death throes there was a line in the script that described 2 children being pulled from the monsters throat. The only way to achieve that effect was to construct a 10ft long animatronic head that was then placed onto a gimbal which was manually controlled by our puppeteers. NARNIA VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER

‘The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader’ was the first film to make extensive use of our CNC 5 axis router. The VFX department required John Cox’s Creature Workshop to CNC cut a 3 piece, life sized foam version of Aslan, and a dragon head. The Art department employed the CNC router to make a scale model of the Dawn Treader, it was machined in a polyurethane tooling board. The Props department had us create a rigid copy of Lord Restimar, who is turned to gold when he goes to drink from the pool on Deathwater Island.

Babe

‘Babe’ was a massive undertaking requiring 3 companies to provide all of the animatronic animals needed. John Cox’s Creature Workshop, Robotechnology, and Jim Hensons Creature Shop were contracted to supply over 25 talking farmyard characters for the movie. The film was shot in and around Robertson on the southern Highlands of NSW in early 1994. The location was chosen for the high average yearly rainfall and the greenness of the grass, something which proved to be in very short supply on our arrival at the location.
